Several months prior to becoming pregnant I called my local midwifery group eager to share the news that my husband and I were thinking about becoming parents.

As excited as I was, while sitting in the doctors office I could tell that I was waiting for something more. A book? A large packet explaining everything I needed to know about baby-making?  You could definitely say I was underwhelmed.

I didn’t even leave with any concrete advice on nutrition. What should I be doing to help strengthen or detox my body? Is there anything I should be avoiding? What foods were supportive? I knew there was more, and I was disappointed at how nonchalant MAKING ANOTHER HUMAN seemed. After all, the energy needed to carry a baby full term is equivalent to your body running a marathon – for 9 months straight!

At that same time, I was pursuing my masters in Nutritional Therapy and had been also working with an experienced nutritional therapist 1:1 to optimize my own health. Back in 2016, I was experiencing depression, anxiety, and fatigue, among other symptoms that had actually been plaguing me for years.

My nutrition education, internship, 1:1 work, and personal experience cooking, creating, being pregnant and being a mother have given me some amazing nutrition wisdom that I feel confident about sharing with YOU.

In the next six years, I had two boys – one born in 2018 and the other in 2021. During this time, I have continuously stuck to my foundations in nutrition, and they have served me well.

I am super grateful that ancestral wisdom and my nutrition education have given me the tools to have relatively easy, healthy full-term pregnancies, and the strength to breastfeed each of them exclusively for over a year. My real-food knowledge has been my favorite and most prized ally throughout my journey, and may have been a reason why I was able to get pregnant so quickly.

Now I want to share everything I have learned – and am passionate about -with you.
